Want to be able to analyze blood spatter to be able to reconstruct a crime scene? Or maybe be able to look at a fingerprint and determine who made it? In Police Forensics, you will be able to put on your detective hat and gain the experience of being a forensic scientist and criminal investigator. We will study how science can be applied to criminal justice. Specific subjects covered include the bite mark analysis (forensic odonotlogy, fingerprint analysis, and shoe print identification, among many other interesting investigative techniques. We learn all about the different types of evidence used to convict criminals, such as individual characteristics, interview and interrogation techniques and all things related to the science of criminal justice. In order to fully understand these topics we do a lot of hands on activities in labs and mock crime scenes. These allow you to get hands on experience with dusting for fingerprints, making and analyzing blood spatter, and even making our own shoe prints and dental impressions.
In addition, numerous guest speakers come in each semester giving you 1:1 experience with experts in these fields and techniques. Important Information: Dual Credit option = completing Police Forensics 1 &2 and maintaining a B grade will enable you to receive 5 college credits through Bellevue College!
